Classic Recreations understands exactly how to execute massive custom builds, proving that taking a vintage shell and packing it with modern performance parts takes serious skill. Enthusiasts who chop up old cars know the pain of making classic metal play nice with new hardware. Putting a heavy powertrain into a 60-year-old chassis requires a total overhaul of the suspension, braking, and interior systems. A well-built restomod commands respect on the street because it combines raw vintage attitude with everyday driveability.

Now operating under the leadership of Velocity, the famous builder just finished its first major project since the acquisition. The shop officially rolled a completed gray and black ’67-’68 Shelby GT500CR Carbon off the production line. This Mustang started as an in-process build under the previous ownership group. After Velocity bought the company, the team paused the project upon realizing the initial work failed to meet its strict delivery standards.

Mechanics and fabricators at Classic Recreations actually spent six months completely rebuilding the vehicle. The crew tore through every major system to fix the engineering, driveability, craftsmanship, and quality control. The final product features a full carbon-fiber body and licensed Shelby design elements. The cabin houses a handcrafted interior built to match the vintage aesthetic while maintaining modern usability standards.

Stuart Wilson, CEO of Velocity, stated, “We approached this build with the same mindset we bring to every vehicle we produce, making sure it was completed the right way and with the level of engineering, quality and care that goes into every Velocity vehicle.” Production slots for these licensed Shelby continuation cars are currently filling up for the year 2028. The shop continues to finish additional vehicles every single week.

The mechanics who spent six months wrenching on this carbon-fiber Mustang deserve a massive round of applause for doing the job the right way. Tearing apart a partially finished project to fix prior mistakes takes immense patience and heavy mechanical talent. Velocity proved it cares about quality by refusing to ship a substandard car. The new era of Classic Recreations looks incredibly bright with such a dedicated group of builders turning the wrenches.
