As you may well know, last Friday was Collector Car Appreciation Day all across the country, and if you didn’t get your hot rod kicks on, well then, you truly missed out. Although the weekend got a wet start here in Colorado, the true die-hards weren’t deterred from celebrating their hobby with one of the premiere shops along the Front Range – Newstalgia Custom Paint & Design. We stopped by for some food, fun, and of course some awesome rides Friday evening and the nice handful of vehicles and people we found were well worth the trip!
Now if the name Newstalgia sounds familiar, congratulations, you’ve probably been paying attention. Last year we stopped by the facility for an open house event. Newstalgia owner, Adam Lucier, is also the painter of choice for many of Pinkee’s Rod Shop’s projects as well as other well-known vehicles around town. Booked up for months in just its third year of business, Newstalgia is bringing expertly-laid classic design work to the forefront in Fort Collins for dozens of vehicles.
While the rain kept many people away on Friday evening, the event was definitely a hit for all those who came out and showed a little rain can’t get a true hot-rodder down.
Hosted at Covenant Tattoo, a staple in Fort Collins owned by Lucier’s good friend and Rod Authority feature vehicle owner Dan Dolan, the event brought out everything from the pristine to the backyard project. Among them were Lucier’s own 1953 Ford Crestline, which was given to him by his grandfather, and Dolan’s new toy, a 1954 Chevy wagon.
Also joining in the fun was the Covenant Tattoo VW Bug, a fleet of bikes, vintage Ford, International and Chevy pickups, including one with an awesome vintage camper on the back, a Chrysler Windsor Deluxe named Dorthy, and a 1957 wagon we’ll be introducing you to shortly!
Aside from the array of rides that showed up, those who dared the wet weather were rewarded with a great hamburger dinner, good company and plenty of hot rod talk. We even scoped out a couple of potential future models for upcoming Babe of the Month features!
In all, the Newstalgia event was a small but personable event, perfect for the location and enthusiasts that attended. What did you do for Collector Car Appreciation Day?
