When it comes to cool rides with a very custom look, the name Chip Foose has often been a part of that combination. For years he has been designing custom cars and has been on numerous television programs.
One of the highlights that we have been privy to is the rendering that Chip does on paper of what the finished car could look like. So when Lincoln Electric wanted to team up with Foose for the “Design Your Dream Giveaway” at SEMA this year, we felt it was worth sharing with you.
Lincoln Electric has been the welder’s choice when it comes to welders of all sizes and types. Since 1895 when brothers John C. and James F. Lincoln began Lincoln Electric with $200 capital investment, technological leadership and commitment to customers has been a part of their vision.
In keeping with that tradition of commitment to their customers, they have become one of the more popular names in the industry. Lincoln Electric has been partnering with fabricators and professionals for over ten years, keeping themselves in touch with their more than 100,000 Facebook fans, and of course all of their loyal customers.
For this year’s SEMA show, Lincoln Electric and Chip Foose Designs created the “Design Your Dream Giveaway” contest. Interested participants can upload a high resolution image of their car on the official Facebook site to enter the contest, or if you don’t have a Facebook account you can enter on their web site, too. The entries will be viewed by the Lincoln Electric marketing department who will choose the grand prize winner.
Some of the renderings that Chip Foose has done in the past.
What does the winner receive? Chip Foose will create a one-of-a-kind rendering of the winner’s car, and autograph it. How cool is that? For those of you who have seen his many appearances, don’t think that the winning car has to be a show car, or that Chip will just do a quick, rough sketch of your car, either. That’s not the point of the contest.
The picture you upload can be your show car or your project car, even if it’s still sitting in the garage on jack stands – it doesn’t matter. The grand prize winner will receive a rendering of how Foose envisions the car. Plus, he’s going to do one of his highly detailed renderings that will be framed for the winner.
Remember, these cars didn't look like this when Chip did the first drawing. Some of these cars were in pretty bad shape and these drawings show the car's potential.
This is all to kick off the “Design Your Dream Giveaway” at the SEMA Show this year, and it’s only the first of three phases. Yes, Lincoln Electric has a couple more ideas up their sleeves, too, so keep checking back to see what else they have in store for you.
That’s a pretty cool prize considering all you have to do is like your car enough to enter it in the contest. The contest runs from October 2 through October 26, 2012, and the winner will be contacted by Lincoln Electric. Official rules and contest deadlines are on their entry sites, as well as the entry form where you can upload your picture. If you’ve wondered what your car could look like when Chip Foose is let loose on it, then get a picture uploaded and let us know if you win!
