Most of us diehard car guys love the old car movies, especially classics like American Graffiti, Bullit and Two-Lane Blacktop. There is one movie that ranks right up there with all the others, Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry. The film has some pretty cool car chase scenes throughout the whole movie, and it stars Peter Fonda, and Susan George.
Fonda portrays an amateur stock-car driver looking to make it big in the NASCAR circuit, but to do so, he devises a plan to steal $150,000 from a grocery store with his mechanic Deke, and troublesome girlfriend (Susan George). The heist doesn’t go quite as planned, and they find themselves recklessly evading the law, and involved in numerous high-speed confrontations with the police.
We as car enthusiasts, don’t really believe that a guy can steal $150,000 to fund his NASCAR career and get away with it. In fact, we really don’t care about the plot. It’s all about the cars in the movie, and the high-speed chases. The acting isn’t much better than an episode of Dukes of Hazzard, but you have to remember; it was 1974 when this movie came out. It’s all about the crazy driving skills, and unrealistic stunts that get our attention. After all, how much abuse can one Dodge Charger really take?
So take a look at the video that was put together, it’s a collage of all the great chase scenes in the movie, combined with modern music. Quite, a new twist on an old flick, without giving away it’s dramatic ending.
