Mopar enthusiast Godfrey Qualls ruled Detroit back in the day with a 1970 HEMI Challenger that would smoke everything on Woodward Avenue and then vanish into the night, not to be seen again for months. This mysterious Dodge attained legendary status in muscle car folklore and earned the nickname the “Black Ghost.” In 2020, Qualls’ old Challenger garnered a spot on the National Historic Vehicle Register and remains in his family to this day.
Fast forward to today, and Dodge announces the latest “Last Call” model to commemorate the Charger and Challenger’s last production model year. The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost special edition offers a modern manifestation of the historic vehicle, wrapping a black-and-chrome appearance, including unique black “gator skin” roof vinyl graphics similar to the original, around a Hellcat Redeye Widebody bumped up to 807 horsepower. Only 300 of the 2023 Black Ghost “Last Call” models will be produced.
The 2023 Black Ghost joins the previously announced Dodge Challenger Shakedown, Dodge Charger Super Bee, Dodge Challenger, Charger Scat Pack Swinger, and Dodge Charger King Daytona, models.
