When you think of Dodge, and the outrageous power output numbers its cars boast, a question that comes to mind is “when and where can I mash the gas?” For the second consecutive year, Dodge//SRT and Mopar will offer racers in model-year 2005 and newer FCA vehicles complimentary entry in the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) for the 2019 season with the NMCA Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout category.

The first 75 participants per event in the Dodge / Mopar HEMI Shootout to receive a complimentary car & driver race credential which provides performance enthusiasts a sanctioned and secure drag strip environment to race their muscle cars.

“These events are the perfect venue to let our vehicle owners live out their passion,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar) and Passenger Car Brands, FCA – North America.

According to NMCA, the HEMI Shootout offers enthusiasts a comfortable, fun experience, with personalized, step-by-step instruction available. Drivers are encouraged to race at their own pace, depending on each participant’s comfort level.

“We’re also proud to be able to help our new Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 owners experience their drag-oriented muscle cars by providing one-year NHRA and NMCA memberships” Beahm added.

To participate in the race, the vehicle must be an actual street car that is licensed, insured and street driven. It must be 2005 and later Gen III HEMI powered Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep produced vehicle on street-type tires (Dodge Viper permitted). Drivers are racing the clock, so progress will be measured in elapsed times (ETs).

NMCA staff will average everyone’s 3 passes and the closest averages to 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, & 15 seconds will each win $100 cash and an award!

The six-event 2019 NMCA schedule blasts off with the season-opening 17th annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida, March 7-10, 2019.
