Could there be a Dodge Ram Hellcat edition in the works? Or are we just a little eager and maybe slightly paranoid? That’s the question the entire industry has been asking since noticing a very subtle, but probably pretty telling easter egg dropped in a Ram promo.
Mopar hasn’t been shy about shoving the supercharged 6.2L powertrain into several of its vehicles. It famously started out powering the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, and then showed up in the Dodge Charger. The latest involvement was becoming the power behind the world’s fastest SUV, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. So it showing up under the hood of a Ram would be a logical progression.
The 2019 Ram 1500 hasn’t even been revealed for more than a month, and people are already wildly speculating that something much more powerful is coming from the Ram. Observant fans have noticed that if you zoom in on the new infotainment system in one shot, you’ll see that the clock is set to 7:07. In the Hellcat world, 707 is the famous horsepower callout.
Any idea that this would be an accident is a little ridiculous, but they could just teasing. Like any Automaker, Mopar isn’t going to fess up to anything, at least not for now. They’re actually going as far to call it a strange coincidence, but the company has a history of pulling things like this.
Before they announced how much horsepower the Hellcat would have, they showed a picture where the Challenger’s infotainment screen showed SiriusXM’s ’70 on 7 channel, 70, 7, again with those three numbers!
