With the millions of dollars being sought for an original HEMI ‘Cuda convertible in pristine condition, it seems unlikely that even the wealthy can afford one of them. Cars that sell for millions aren’t for those who seek to invest, they are for those who don’t have enough cars. Let’s face it, if you spend $2 million on a car, you’ve already lost money unless you can turn around and sell it for more within the next week. But you don’t spend that kind of coin on a car just to sell it, you bought it because nobody else has one.

Well, that can be the case with this HEMI ‘Cuda we found on eBay, too, and for a lot less than a million bucks. While this 1970 Plymouth isn’t exactly a numbers matching car, or even all original, the chances of you seeing someone cruise by in an identical car are slim to none – and slim left the building a long time ago. This ‘Cuda is more than just custom, though, it’s built to show, and hopefully someone will want to drive it, too.

Sporting a modern 6.1L HEMI cranking out 525 horsepower through a Keisler 5-speed overdrive trans, this 2008 SEMA project car called “Conviction ‘Cuda” is over the top. With a who’s who list of sponsors including Flowmaster, Optima Batteries, Flaming River, etc., this car was a “spare no expense” build that began with an all steel body that isn’t sharing real estate with any fiberglass.

The PPG Silver Star and Vibrants Purfect Purple paint and airbrush work on this car are flawless and make it stand out in any background. But just because this car has an extreme paint job, don’t be fooled because this car was built to be driven. The entire underside was coated to keep road noise to a minimum, and the Air Ride suspension gets you to the proper cruising height while still allowing you to sit low when parked.

For rolling stock, Bonspeed Quasar wheels are wrapped in 245/40 R 18 up front and 295/35 R 20 out back, where an 8-3/4 inch rear end turns 3.91 gears. The interior is completely custom too, and the pistol-grip shifter brings it all back to the Mopar theme, as do the Mopar Performance instruments.

So if a million or two isn’t going to leave your hands for a HEMI ‘Cuda convertible any time soon, but you want the baddest of the bad, the coolest HEMI ‘Cuda custom that you can find, then this just might be your ticket. But then, like many of us out there, we can only dream about cruising in a car like this, so we’ll have to savor the pictures and get ideas for our own projects.
