eBay Find: Deja Vu- COYBIT’s Trans Am Inspired GTO

COYBILT GTOHow much is a 1965 Pontiac GTO based off of a drawing worth? According to this seller: 250,000 bucks. Why the hefty price tag you ask? The car is going to be making its debut at SEMA 2014. It’s a collaboration between builder COYBILT and 16 different parts manufacturers including big industry names such as Borla Exhaust, Wilwood brake systems, Paradise wheels, Synergy Motorsports and a dozen others.

COYBILT 1965 GTO

How Deja Vu began her life.

COYBILT has nicknamed this project Deja Vu as it’s a pro touring machine which draws influence from the Trans Am race cars of the 1960s. The car is a tribute to American road racers Bob Tulius, Herb Adams and the legendary Carrol Shelby. COYBILT says the concept behind the project is a car the racers in the 60’s would have built it if they had today’s performance technology.

COYBILT isn’t leaving any stoned unturned when it comes to this build. A dual throttle bodied twin Paxton Supercharged 408 cube LSX motor pushing 1000 horses will rip this GOAT around the road course. A Tremec T-56 magnum modified with a twin disc clutch and quick time bell housing will send the power to the wheels.

Deja Vu sits on top of a lightweight Roadshop chassis designed for racing. This custom chassis is equipped with an IRS to help the car glide around the curves, and grinding the car to halt are Wilwood 6 piston superlite’s in the front and 4 piston superlite’s in the rear.

The interior is a no frills minimal interior with two front buckets and an 8 point roll cage to help reduce weight for racing. A Stewart Warnner dash with custom gauges greets the drivers as they strap in. The car will be completed for SEMA 2014 where it will make it’s debut. Afterwords it will be shipped to the home of the lucky buyer. So how does a quarter million sound for a car on paper?
