The pro-touring car has developed a love-it-or-hate-it following. Enthusiasts embrace the concept, loving the modern tech wrapped in a classic body . The skeptics and traditionalists think of the “huge” wheels as “too bling” and relates the trend much to the hip-hop lifestyle, completely ignoring the fact that these cars also have modern suspension and braking characteristics. We guess it’s a case of either you get it or you don’t.

In any event we found this super-clean ’68 Charger R/T on eBay, packing 528ci of HEMI power under its hood and a full assortment of suspension and brake upgrades under its freshly restored chassis. From the look at its spec sheet, this isn’t some hodgepodge Mopar, as it has won several awards at cars shows, including Best in Class and the Outstanding Paint Award at the 2012 World of Wheels in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Improving on the Charger’s timeless design, the restorers left the Dodge’s body intact without any tubbing, shaving or chopping, focusing solely on improvements in the form of Wilwood disc brakes, an aftermarket suspension, and all 654HP worth of the car’s fuel-injected HEMI powerplant resonating through a set of long-tube headers and Flowmaster exhaust.

Large American Racing wheels measuring 20×10 in the rear and 18×8.5 up front wrapped in Nitto 555 rubber help keep the B-body planted in the corners, while a Keisler 5-speed manual gearbox is responsible for motivating the Charger forward. It seems to be a well rounded, and very well put together car, and we can’t help but wonder how it drives.
