It’s often said that if you can’t buy the car of your dreams, you should just build it. That’s exactly what one guy did in Columbus, New Jersey. Having stumbled upon a ’68 Dart 340 GTS in a semi trailer with no motor, build sheet or fender tag, the seller of this particular car decided to build the car he’s always wanted it. Now it’s up for grabs on eBay.
The Dart underwent a complete rebuild, and the first order of business consisted of having John Arruzza build a 517ci. HEMI with a cross-ram manifold, dual 770cfm Holley carburetors, Stage 5 aluminum heads, Engle K-8 camshaft, MSD distributor, Callies connecting rods and crankshaft, and .030 overbore Ross pistons.
Backing the stout mill is a Passon-built, 18-spline 4-speed gearbox, with a Moser 60 rearend spinning 4.11 cogs in the back. Keeping all four Torque Thrust wheels planted to the road are RMS coil-overs and a multi-link suspension kit in the rear. Inside, you’ll find a black interior, with white pearl seat covers, a Sony stereo, and a custom dash and steering wheel.
The seller goes on to mention that the old Dodge has been in seen in popular magazines, and has won trophies at many prestigious Mopar events around the country. Judging by the pictures alone, it really is a fine example of the breed, and we wish the seller nothing but the best with his sale.
