A quick search through eBay brought me right to this sweet looking ’66 Rambler Rebel. AMC first introduced the Rebel back in 1957 as a “veritable supercar,” powered by AMC’s largest displacement engine at the time; a 5.4 liter 327.

The 327 was a stout V8, and was what some consider to be AMC’s only “big block” engine. Output was 255 horsepower, helping it outpace the competition of the time.  The first incarnation of the car only lasted until ’60, but the rebel model was soon revived in 1966 with a slightly more potent 327cui engine now pushing 270 horsepower.

The more renowned cars we know from AMC such as the Javelin and AMX didn’t come around for another couple years, but by 1966 AMC was already getting the ball rolling for the muscle car market.

The car we spotted on eBay is fitted with the top of the line 327 V8 and two-barrel intake, bringing the horsepower to 250. Unbelievably, this Rambler only has 36,370 original miles on the odometer.

To sweeten the deal, it also has power steering, power brakes, a Flowmaster exhaust, and a twin-grip rear end. Best of all, the owner claims the car runs and drives like new, with bunches of new parts including a new radiator, water pump, power steering pump, thermostat and a fresh brake job.

This car is also very rare with only a total of only 7,012 Rebels made in 1966 and far fewer with the optional 327 V8. Sure, it has some wear and tear, but this car looks great for 45 year old car. Overall it looks to be a great car that could handle anything from cruising around with your buddies to weekend passes at the drag strip. If you’re a guy who likes something a little different, this might be the perfect car for you.
