The days of a muscle car bringing top dollar simply by having a “1 in 24” rarity are apparently over. We found this slick 4-speed ’65 Wildcat Convertible over on eBay listed with a starting price of $29,999. It did not receive a single bid. Zero. Nada. Nothing. In the 2002-2005 heyday when loans were easy to get and people were flipping cars every 30 days we’re betting this sucker would have been gone in a heart beat.
Truth be told though, as much as this car may mean to it’s current owner, the fact that it’s a 1-in-24 Buick convertible with a factory 4-Speed simply doesn’t cut the mustard anymore. It’s simply not a desirable car in the collector world.
If it were a ’70 GSX it’d be a different story, but when it’s all said and done it’s just a giant Buick that’s probably fun as heck to drive with the top down. Nothing more.
With the insults out of the way, we actually do dig this car and it has a ton, er maybe 2.5 tons, going for it. To begin it’s believed that the 11,250 miles on the odometer are legit, it does have the a fore mentioned 4-speed, and has the big 425 cubic inch 360 horsepower motor under the hood equipped with two 4-barrel carburetors.
It also has posi-traction, power windows, power trunk release, AM/FM radio, power steering, power brakes, power top, and a power antenna! It’s the perfect cruiser! We do hope that it finds a good home, and someone will get a bargain.
