Browsing eBay, we found an unfinished project that deserves completion. We’re unsure if this is a real SS 409, but this 1964 Chevrolet Impala can become a rodder’s dream ride or a lowrider’s true gem.
The drivetrain is an original rebuilt 409 cubic-inch V8 with a two-speed Power Glide automatic transmission. The exterior is the finite selling point as it is pristine and rust-free. Saving hours of sheet metal work, this Impala merely needs a solid drivetrain, glass, and a new interior.
Although the interior needs to revived, the seller is including a complete silver seat upholstery kit as well as a complete disc brake kit for the Impala. The car also comes with the original wheels and hubcaps, wrapped with whitewall rubber.
The car may be 52 years old, but it holds plenty of respect in the hot rod and Chevy community for its timeless body lines and raw performance. This Impala may be well past its prime, but these American classics are like wine, the longer they sit, the more value they accrue with each passing year.
This Impala may be claiming to be an SS 409 model, but it all doesn’t match up, especially the VIN number, which ends in 67, signifying a convertible model. Nonetheless, this Impala has tons of potential that can turn this dusty barn find into an award winning build at your local car expo.
What are your thoughts of this Impala? Is this barn find worth the time and investment? What would you do first? Feel free to share a comment or two below.
