One of the more iconic classic cars that symbolizes the leisurely life at the beach has got to be the Woody. They adorn T-shirts with captions like “No Bad Days” and are surrounded by palm trees and surfboards, and sand, of course. Seeing a Woody at a car show or car cruise, and you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t think it’s a cool car.
The craftsmanship that goes into restoring one of these cool rides is quite labor intensive. Where most body men need to know about different types of metal, metal thicknesses, and welding two pieces of metal together, the Woody requires someone with enough woodworking skills to make doors and side panels fit properly. No, breaking out the sabre saw isn’t going to cut it with these restorations, they require some serious skill to pull it off.
We found this 1948 Ford Woody up on eBay recently with a “Buy It Now” asking price of just a tad shy of $105,000. We had to take a closer look and ask, “would you pay over $100k to get a woody?” The car is in incredible condition, but being a Ford and sporting a 350 ci SBC it makes us wonder why it didn’t have a Ford mill for all that coin.
Complete with the amenities that make a cruiser a little more comfortable, this classic has Vintage Air keeping you cool, while the Alpine audio system allows you to crank your favorite surf tunes while cruising. It’s done up very nicely, and would be an instant hit at any cruise-in with just over 4,500 miles since completion.
Check out the ad on eBay if you’re in the market to get a Woody, this one is very clean and quite the cruiser with sway bars for better stability and custom work throughout. It’ll set you back a pretty penny, but it will also make you stand out like a million bucks! Do you think the SBC/700R4 combo should have been replaced with a Blue Oval powertrain to make this Woody more desirable?
