As kids, many of us day dreamed in class about driving our favorite diecast car in our collection. We often imagined racing fictional opponents on a real life version of that looped hot wheels track. What may have seemed like a boyhood fantasy may be able to come true. While searching eBay we came across this white on white 1970 Plymouth GTX. Diecast manufacturer Johnny Lightning used this musclecar as a basis for a diecast GTX that’s part of their Mopar or No Car series. Further boosting this machines cool factor is the fact that its the only white on white 1970 GTX to ever leave Detroit.
Believe it or not this the only white on white 1970 Plymouth GTX ever built.
This machine rolled off the assembly line equipped with a V code 440 RB engine mated to a 727 Torqueflite automatic tranny which runs to a tire smoking Dana 60 sure grabber rear end. Supplying air is the Air Graber hood, this looks like a normal hood at first but after the driver flips a switch a hood scoop pops out of a secret panel that has air grabber written on the side. Not only does this hood provide extra air to the mill, it makes a great psychological warfare weapon at stop lights.
It's ever gearhead's dream to own a real life diecast car.
Aside from Mattel’s Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning is arguably the most popular diecast manufacturer among collectors. Since Johnny Lightning specializes in classic musclecars and real American race cars it comes as no surprise that this Plymouth GTX was the perfect fit for Johnny Lightning’s Mopar or No Car line. Now one of us can live the dream of driving a real life diecast car for the low price of $68,000. Now who wants the toy instead of this thing? Hands? Hands?
