The race to hold the quarter-mile record as the quickest Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat continues to heat up. Over the last few months, a few different teams and drivers have been trying hard to knock down records set by each other, the result is a seriously raised bar, and has offered plenty of excitement for spectators who have been following along the way. The team of team of Leon, Jason and Logan Epling just reset the quarter mile record with a new best of 8.68 at 155-miles per hour.
The Epling Garage team has been one of the top competitors in the world of modern Mopars. Their Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was the very first Hellcat-powered vehicle to reach into the 8-second zone in the quarter-mile. Quickly after setting the record, many others came after the family team, but even in the face of fierce competition, they seem to always come back around on top. They have spent the most time this year as the quickest Hellcat car.
Even with many tracks in the United States closing for the season, Epling Garage team keeps heading to those still open to run better and better times thanks to cooler and thinner wintery air. With the air and tuning adjustments, this Hellcat seems unstoppable.
This recent record-setting run was actually a run against their last time of 8.71 at 157-miles per hour. Before that, Josh Schwartz took his Hellcat down the track in 8.88 seconds. The team obviously wants to keep their edge, and will not settle for just beating the record by a thin margin, they are going all in as we roll into 2018. Expect to see a lot more competitors when tracks start to open again in the spring of 2018, this is going to be a wild year for Hellcat racing.
