The 58th annual Portland Roadster Show is nearly upon us. On March 14-16, over four hundred classics and hot rods will be shined up and put on display at the Portland Expo Center. Each year, the Multnomah Hot Rod Council sifts through hundreds of show vehicle applicants.
They scrutinize and fine tune the list of applicants choosing to show off only the best of the best. The show is known for featuring the top hot rods and classics in the West, if not the entire Country.

Builders come from all over the country to display their vehicles. Each of these talented builders will attempt to get their hands on big time awards and the cash that comes along with them. The event’s top award is the Grand Sweepstakes Rose Cup, which is given to the vehicle/owner that received the highest amount of “Overall Points” for that year.
Not only will that winner get the top honors for the show, they will also cruise away with an extra $10,000 to go towards whatever wish-list car part, credit card payment (aftermarket accessories are notorious for stacking up quick, yet unbeknownst to our better halves), or savings account they’ve got. Next in line for top awards is the World Cup of Hot Rodding. This award is sought after by hot rod builders everywhere. Commending the builder and the owner for their design and skills, this award is reserved for pre-1948 cars and sends the owner home with an extra $5,000.
This year’s show will go full tilt with exciting special events to accompany all the gorgeous cars. Legends George Barris and John D’Agostino will be at the show to share and interact with show goers. The Annual Rose City Brush Bash will bring in the Country’s steadiest hands to compete to see who is the best pinstriper in the land. Several other special events such as the High School Challenge and Scholarship, the Bob Paeth Portland Classic Model Car Contest and the Portland Roadster Show Hall of Fame are must see events. In addition to the beautiful rods, six amazing Miss America contestants will be present.
