Hosted by the Horseless Carriage CC, this show is definitely one of the most prestigious that the Midwest Region has to offer. Although this event is not associated with the nation’s other Concours d’Elegance events, this show undoubtedly upholds the reputation through its exhibition of class and standards.

The show dates back to Easter of 1954 when the club decided to host its first parade alongside AAA. The parades continued up until 1961 but due to a declining lack of interest in classic cars these events ceased. Shortly after, the club hosted its first rally.4507707750_142d563e42_o

The HCCC decided to host its first gathering in Villa Square. Seven months later on April 22nd, 1962, the first St. Louis Concours d’Elegance was born. Originally a simple production, the show had only six judged categories. The oldest and newest winning cars of the show were a 1897 Holdermann and a 1939 Cadillac sedan convertible. Two short years later, the event gained a solid following alongside its faithful sponsor AAA. Screen Shot 2014-03-17 at 10.19.31 AM

The gathering has grown since and has become a must-attend event for the St. Louis community. This year’s show will be held in Forest Park, on April 20th. Starting at 12:00 p.m., the event leaves ample time for family gatherings before and after allowing a full day for the whole family to enjoy. Admission is free at no cost to spectators, simply drop by and enjoy the showcase of extravagant classics lined up for the day. With classes ranging from 1931 to 1989 both unrestored and restored, there will be plenty to catch the eyes of all ages and genders. If  you are interested in more information about the event or the club, visit the HCCC homepage.
