It is always disheartening to hear about the destruction caused by fire, but when the tragedy precedes the holiday season it just adds to hurt. KFYR-TV reported an incident that resulted in the destruction of a garage, part of a home, and a classic car. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured or killed in the blaze.
According to KFYR-TV, the owner claimed that the fire started with a wood pellet stove located in the garage, but no further details were provided. As the fire spread from the stove, the garage went up in flames destroying a 1967 Mustang, a motorcycle, and three quads. The original news story stated that a diesel tank in the garage caught fire as well, but it was extinguished by fire personnel.
As stated earlier, the fortunate part of this story was that no one was seriously injured in the fire. Classic cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles have value, but they can be replaced. Most car enthusiasts will rebuild or select another project, but they will never forget the memories they shared with their friends in that vehicle.
It is painful to think about the potential damage fire can cause, but it is something that car enthusiasts should take a few minutes to consider. Do you have the proper insurance for your home, cars, and other vehicles? Memories can last a lifetime, but losing money can taint those formerly fond memories. Taking the time to look into classic car insurance versus the standard auto insurance used to cover a daily driven Honda Civic can be worth the effort in the long run.
