The new SRT Viper has been making quite a stir in the automotive community since its recent reveal at the New York Auto Show, but as we found out from Autoblog, it will be stealing the spotlight again come June. That’s when the very first ‘13 Viper will be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Orange County Auction. What’s even cooler is that all the proceeds will benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, giving one lucky buyer a hell of collectors item while helping many families faced with childhood cancer.
The Barrett-Jackson Orange County Auction will take place June 22nd through the 24th. There buyers will have an opportunity to bid on a variety of unique cars, including the first production Viper. With the first ‘13 Corvette 427 Convertible recently dropping the hammer at $600,000 for charity at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, there is no telling what the next-gen snake could bring but we’re betting it will rival the bowtie on and off the stage.
Philanthropy has been a core value for SRT since their start, so auctioning off the car and pairing with the Austin Hatcher Foundation is just another way the brand and its dedicated customers are giving back to the community.
The auction of the first Viper was announced during the New York Auto Show press day on April 4th. Additionally, SRT proclaimed the Viper’s return to the American Le Mans Series in which the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer is the official charity.
If you’re interested in bidding on the first ‘13 Viper, make sure to mark your calendars for the end of June. This is definitely an opportunity that won’t come around again and you’ll be helping out sick kids and their families in addition to adding a fine piece of Viper history to your car collection.
