Jalopnik reported that during the setup for Detroit’s Autorama, a General Lee Charger was hit by a Pro Stock S10 Chevy that lost control while leaving the check in aisle, also injuring one person that was taken away by paramedics. At least one bystander was also injured requiring the paramedics as well.
Reoprtedly, the S-10 was leaving the check-in area and went sideways, taking out most of the check-in areas tables, hit the stanchions and then broadsided the General Lee clone. The force was so strong, it pushed the 2-ton General Lee sideways almost a foot. The S-10 destroyed it’s front clip, windshield, and box; the General Lee was damaged from fender to quarter.
A couple eyewitnesses posted later on yellowbullet.com that one of them was a friend of the man struck by the S10 and that he was going to be released with minor injuries. Also another post stated they had a show car parked directly across from the General Lee and witnessed the aftermath of the crash. Pictures of the damaged s10 were going to be uploaded to the forum but weren’t available as of this writing.
Many of the show’s participants are concerned whether this accident would ruin the tradition of driving out of the arena, reving their engines and showing off after the event.
