Coker Tire, the poster boy for classic tires, recently held the grand opening of its new distribution facility in the City of Industry in Southern California. Though the company has long been a fixture in Central California, Fresno to be specific, things have been growing at Coker and the change looks to be a wise and welcome one.
With the 250-mile move, Coker has gained a great advantage by being closer to its steel suppliers, as well as a significant portion of its hot-rodding customer base. Being that it’s also a bigger building than the one in Fresno, it will also house the manufacturing facility for Coker wheels.
The grand opening took place on Wednesday, January 22nd during the MPMC conference in Santa Ana. It also coincided with the start of Grand National Roadster Show on January 24th. The guest list included hundreds of people, all friends of Coker Tire, and ranged from media to industry giants to legendary builders and media personalities.
Fun times were had by all, especially Corky himself. Boosting the fun level up a notch was the arrival of the cast of “Backroad Gold,” the new reality TV show from the Travel Channel, which follows Corky and company as they wheel and deal for awesome barn find cars, motorcycles, and everything in between.
Tours, food and drink, and even some live music were the order of the night. The band, Led Foot, is actually comprised of industry folks who are members of SEMA. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held and marked by applause and cheers from the hundreds who attended the event.
