When hearing the word hot rod, most people usually get images of V-8 powered ’32 Ford Coupes, blown ’57 Chevys, and T-Bucket Roadsters in their heads. Most people don’t get images of heavy duty trucks as many people wouldn’t believe that someone would build a hot rod out of one of these classic trucks. We might not have believed it either, if we didn’t stumble across this featured video.
This video features three different hot rods all built from vintage COE trucks showing at a NSRA show. Each one of these trucks is wilder and more unique than the last. The first truck is a late 40s/early 50s White Motor’s COE Semi Truck that features the original White Cab and it’s attached to what looks to be a late model Chevy Silverado bed. The interior has been completely modernized with a leather bench seat, modern gauges and a new stereo system and is believed to be powered by a modern gas engine, not a diesel.
The truck is finished with a clean orange paint job which helps it achieve a classic street rod look. We can only imagine that this truck is probably a real head turner out on the highways. The second heavy duty truck is even wilder than the first. This truck is a vintage Chevy Flatbed that has been customized with aluminum wheels, modern style tool boxes and a vintage wooden flatbed.
The interior has also been fully customized as well. It features bucket seats wrapped in leather, a smooth leather dash with aluminum gauges and window cranks mounted. The wooden bed has been covered in finish and the truck has been painted a fine bright yellow to help it achieve that street rod look.
The last truck is one of the most amazing hot rod heavy duty trucks we’ve come across to date. It’s a definite hit and induces that jaw dropping aspect that all hot rods should give off. This truck is a vintage Ford Flatbed truck that is full of small details and lots of personality. One of the first things you notice is the truck’s bright yellow with the vintage red Coca-Cola graphics on the rear side panels and the door.
Other details are the famous Moon Eyes logos painted on the headlight covers and bullet holes in the wind shield. The flatbed of the truck is all metal and stainless steel exhaust stacks come out of the rear behind the cab. The interior of the truck is Coca-Cola themed as well with Coke bottle door handle, more Coke graphics on the doors and red and yellow seats.
One detail that’s really amazing about this truck is that all of the Coca-Cola logos and the other graphics are all hand painted. When we first saw this truck you instantly have to think “Someone really loves Coca-Cola!” This heavy duty hot rod is like a taste of classic Americana on wheels. In order to see all of the details on this jaw dropping hot rod you may have to watch the video several times and take notice.Hot Rod COE Trucks are not something you see everyday not even at the largest of hot rod shows. It’s trucks like these that really show off the creativity and ingenuity of a builder. Hopefully there will be more heavy duty hot rods to come in the future.
