At the Forty Third Annual NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, Heidts introduced the latest bolt-in version of their Pro-G IRS suspension system. The PRO-G IRS is now available as a direct bolt-in for one of the most iconic hot rods, the Tri-Five Chevy. The PRO-G line, already available for various muscle cars and in a more universal form, is a ground breaking innovation in the custom car world. The system allows builders and enthusiasts the opportunity to install a bolt in system in many popular vehicles, without the need to adapt a system from an existing car.
Developing a version for the Tri-Five was a direct response to demand from customers, builders and Heidts retailers. Benefits of switching from a standard leaf spring or coil spring solid rear axle system to an IRS setup are numerous, offering greatly improved vehicle ride quality as well as dramatically improved handling and braking.
The PRO-G IRS system is built around Heidts own cast nine-inch center section. It features a fully welded and boxed upper cross member. The steel outer uprights are fully welded, and the unit also utilizes tubular heavy-duty upper and lower control arms. Heavy-duty constant velocity joints are used, allowing the unit to be applicable in conjunction with high horsepower applications. The system comes standard with 10.5-inch Wilwood brakes, which are inboard mounted and feature four piston calipers and there are other braking options available from Heidt’s to fit any application.
There are numerous limited slip and locking differential options available and includes two different track widths; either 56″ or 58″ to meet your needs. Heidt’s offers a number of ring and pinion gear ratios for customer’s to select from so that they can choose the best option for their specific use.
The system utilizes billet single adjustable coil over shocks and springs and Heidtss sales staff can help customers determine the appropriate spring rate for their application based on vehicle specifics as well as customer’s target goals for their project.
The system includes the correct frame mounting brackets for the application as well as a front pinion support. Other options available include polished or chrome finishes on components, parking brake kit and cables. With unlimited options, it’s about time to get your Tr-Five updated with some modern technology, so give Heidts a call and let their performance experts get you back on track.
