There is no doubting the power behind the new ‘12 SRT Challengers. Equipped with 392cui HEMI V8s, these puppies can fly down the pavement while still being able to school plenty of cars on curvy roads.
While many of us would like to get our hands on one of these beasts and may never get the opportunity to, it seems that a select group of people on a special list will now be able to lease one of these bad boys from Hertz Mexico. As we found out from Allpar.com, Hertz Mexico has recently purchased a number of the new SRT Challengers with automatic transmissions for “special customers” to rent while visiting. Anyone know how we can be one of these “special customers?”
Hertz Mexico, or Avasa, is dedicated to giving rental car customers the vehicle that they want, especially in the business and leisure sect. In addition to their wide variety of over 3,000 economy cars, family sedans and large-occupancy vehicles, Hertz Mexico will now be offering ‘12 SRT Challengers to select customers.
According to Allpar’s unnamed source, you must be a “special customer” to even get near one of these cars. The SRT’s are so exclusive that only certain Hertz employees can drive them at the Hertz facility.
As you know, the ‘12 SRT Challengers pack quite a punch with their 470-horsepower 6.4L HEMI V8. The engine is also capable of producing 470 lb.-ft. of torque all while giving drivers a fuel economy up to 23mpg. Sounds like the perfect combination, doesn’t it? Well it gets better.
Following along with SRT’s latest goal of producing not only fast, powerful cars, but also ones that can handle well and give customers all-around stellar performance, the SRT Challenger is equipped with a new two-mode adaptive dampening suspension system. This system features selectable tuning and the ability to adapt to driver commands and road conditions for the optimal driving experience.
Even if you are one of Hertz Mexico’s “special customers,” you’ll have to cough up $300 a day to drive the SRT Challenger off the lot, the highest rental cost in the company. Still, for an experience behind the wheel of one of these potent muscle cars, what’s $300 for 24 hours?
