CUSTOM_PICKUP_CHASSIS_254The 62nd Detroit Autorama is just around the corner, March 7th through the 9th, and it’s looking to be as big as ever. Special guests, Student Career Day, the Ridler Award and Ridler’s Ball–it’s all in once place, and it’s all happening this weekend.

One of the more excited vendors coming to the show is Hitman Hotrods, an Ontario-based company looking to make a huge mark in the automotive world. It will be the company’s first time as a vendor at the show, and Hitman Hot Rods is looking to make a serious impression with some tricks up its sleeve.CUSTOM_PICKUP_CHASSIS_242

Drawing some major interest will be the prototype custom air ride chassis that the shop is planning to bring along for its main display. Originally intended for use with a 2001 S-10 cab and box, the chassis underwent several changes to make it fit a virgin 2013 Tundra body.

Capable of ten inches of lift on all fours, it can also drive and steer at any of these heights with ease. Tight space in the front wheel wells forced the main suspension components to be positioned behind the cab, with hydraulic cylinders running from back to front. It’s an interesting concept that’s sure to attract a lot of attention from showgoers.BUICK_MODEL_68_1934_022

This '34 Buick Model 68 is some of Hitman Hotrods' finest work, using a 6.0L V-8 from an Escalade and a 4L80E transmission.

If you’re going to make your way to Motor City this weekend and check out the Autorama, make sure to stop by the Hitman Hotrods station. Tell them Rod Authority sent you. Be sure to give these northern neighbors a closer look by checking out their website.CUSTOM_PICKUP_CHASSIS_217
