Movie cars are usually cool. The Bullitt Mustang? Yes. The ’70 Challenger R/T from Vanishing Point? Yes The A-Team Van? Well….
I grew up in the late 80’s, so it still has an undeniable kitsch, and the tri-tone paint will turn heads, although maybe not for the right reasons. As a matter of fact, there was an A-Team “tribute” van that drove my neighborhood for years. He drove it as if the military was in fact following him, and seeing the A-Team GMC fly around a corner with the back end out is a lasting mental picture.
No matter the car, finding a real movie car can be tough. How about an “authentic replica” with supposed authentication from George Barris…and, wait for it….was “commissioned for Mike Myers.”
Yep, that Mike Myers. I’m not sure what to make of it. Its not the real A-Team van (this one being built on a Chevy donor, instead of the nearly identical GMC the original was based on), and it has no definite proof of former ownership.
When the listing debuted, the owner had a nearly $20,000 price tag on the wagon. I’m guessing he was banking on a resurgence in popularity with the newest release of the A-Team featuring Rampage Jackson as B.A. Baracus.
That time came and went, and with the movie losing almost $40 million domestically…I’m thinking there might be some wiggle room in his figures. Either that or try to sell it in another 15 years, when Hollywood decides to make the A-Team over, again.
