Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is one of the most popular people on television right now, thanks to his current role as Negan in The Walking Dead. Yes, Jeffrey has had an admirable career and is a very talented actor off TWD, but Negan is probably the most meme-inducing and lovable villains ever seen on the screen. To make him even cooler, he will be driving the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Pace Car this Sunday at the Indy 500.
“We’re honored to welcome Jeffrey Dean Morgan to IMS to drive the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Pace Car,” IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. “He’s used to playing the ultimate villain in ‘The Walking Dead,’ but he’ll be an envied hero to millions of race fans around the world when he gets to lead the field to the green flag of the 101st Indianapolis 500 in such a beautiful Corvette.”
So if you needed (another) reason to tune in, here it is!
This will also be the 14th time a Corvette has served as the official Pace Car at the Indy 500 — the first time was back in 1978, and no other car has come close to being named the Indy 500 Pace Car as many time.
To pull a line from the character Negan “Now that is some service!”
