Jet-Hot Customer Project – Brion Rose’s 1930 Model A

The Model A is probably the most popular and most versatile bodies in all of hot rodding. We found this 1930 Model A sedan on Jet-Hot Coatings web site, under the customer projects section and became instantly intrigued. The car belongs to Brion Rose from New Orleans, Louisiana and what makes this build even cooler is that it was home-built in Rose’s backyard garage.

Rose custom built the frame from 2×3-inch steel tubing in the rear and punched 1/4-inch plate steel to construct the front. There are six different size tubes passing through the front frame rails to give it that race inspired, light weight apperance.

According to Rose’s web site, Wedas Street Rod Garage, the body was given to him and he handled all of the fabrication and welding from start to finish. It’s been chopped four inches, and channeled six inches over the frame, giving this rod a very aggressive stance. Suicide doors with hidden hinges and no external handles add to the sleek, custom look. There’s also frenched Cadillac lights and a custom built floor, all hand-fabricated by Rose in his shop.

The engine is a small block Chevy based on a Dart block and aluminum heads. It was built by Greg Hekimian Racing Engines in Watertown, MA. A Blower Shop supercharger breathes into the mouse, inhaling through dual four-barrel carbs. The bug catcher scoop sits just below the roofline, also adding to the aggressiveness of the rod’s mean lines. The combination has been dynoed and is good for a solid 680 hp. Gear changes come from a built Turbo 350 transmission with 2200 stall converter and shift kit, while a posi does its best to plant both rear tires on the pavement.

Details include a fully Jet-Hot coated header and exhaust system, plenty of chrome and shine in all the right places, and paint and powdercoat throughout. Every nut and bolt has been meticulously placed on this beast and nothing is out of place.

The suspension sports a suicide style front axle, four-link rear setup and air bags. Whitewall Firestones wrap around 4-inch wide Radar wheels in the front and 10-inch fatties in the rear. Disc brakes at all four corners halt forward momentum. Credit for the clear coat and artwork goes to Kal Smith of Paint By Kal in Kenner, Louisiana.

This mean Model A has been making the show rounds in Louisiana and took three awards at the New Orleans World of Wheels. Accolades include Top 10, Mag Daddy Builders, and Best in Class at the big show. For more pictures and info on this build and other cool rides from Jet-Hot customers, checkout the Jet-Hot Customer Projects page.
