As gearheads, we sometimes come across something that really catches our fancy: a set of steak knives with a box-end wrench, a Hemi barbecue grill, man cave decorations, and cool gearhead furniture. Recently, we stumbled across something a little bit different, and you’d really need to have a penchant for wearing your gearheadedness on your finger with these engine rings.
We liked the Snap-On steak knives, and when we posted them to our Facebook page it went off the hook with people asking how they can buy them from us. Unfortunately, we don’t sell these things, we only share them with our readers. And like anything else that’s really cool they aren’t cheap – they can be found on eBay from about $60 and up. We’ve even seen a few coffee mugs that look a bit like large sockets, but that’s another story altogether.
When we came across these very cool (engagement?) rings above from Big Block Entertainment on the internet we started to search around for others. It was pretty cool to find a few more engine rings and jewelry, and while some are more basic, others have a little more detail and options. We found a site in Germany with the rings below that seemed to be a little less-optioned with some great prices. These were based on the SBC and had only a couple of options available.
Pricing was anywhere from about $61 on sale up to $400 and up, depending on whether you have gold or silver, or it’s encrusted with diamonds, rubies, or some other precious stone. We kept searching after seeing a few more images and came across yet another site based on the East Coast of the US, and found even more choices that really blew us away.
For those who want to take it a step further with their engine choices, Cruzinworld.com is where we found an array of Chevrolet and 426 Hemi engines. Sitting atop the bowtie engines we found various intakes, heads, valve covers, and fuel style – from early fuel injection to tuned port injection to dual carbs sitting on a tunnel ram. Air inlet types range from with or without an air filter, Hilborn style scoop, shotgun scoop, crossfire setup, and even tri-power, to name a few.
Check out the links if you’re interested in popping the question to the gearhead in your life, or maybe if you’re just looking for something different for a gift this holiday season, you never know! What other engines would you like to see made into a ring like this? There are a couple of others we can think of, how about a modern supercharged Coyote or a Hellcat Hemi?
