Midway through 2015, our friends over at Pace Performance have done it again, introducing a new line of connectors with their Vintage Wire spark plug wire sets. Available in six different finishes, the Vintage Wire sets are an exceptional good looking set of wires that also offer an OEM finish that will complement other components in the engine bay.
According to Pace Performance Manager Chuck Fitch, these universal wire sets have factory terminated spark plug boot ends and also include both male and female style distributor connectors and boots. “The Vintage Wires are wrapped in vintage style cotton weave with a lacquer coating,” he said. “The resistance of these wires is less than 100 ohms per foot, providing a good quality wire that performs.”
Furthermore, Fitch said each set of Vintage Wires available help to cater to all styles, with even the option to create custom sets. “All a customer has to do is send in their old wires so we can create one based off their specifications,” he said. “From there, turnaround is about four days.”
With choices in finish, there is a set to complement any make, model, or year.
According to Pace Performance, the wires in the new sets are 7.8 mm spiral wound suppression core insulated with EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber and silicone. Fitch said that with a high silicone wire, the Vintage Wire spark plug wire sets are not a low-end quality product.

With today’s engines running hot, a lot of heat is generated under the hood, placing heavy demand on spark plug wire sets. Spark plug wires need to be able to withstand harsh and adverse heat conditions under the hood, avoiding oil, chemical, and ozone corrosion or failure.
Spark plug wires help to avoid problems when starting up a vehicle. Without a clean connection, your engine is susceptible to misfire. Corroded spark plug leads can also result in failing emissions tests if they are operating incorrectly. Moreover, faulty spark plug wires can impede performance on your exhaust system, damaging your catalytic converter simultaneously.
