Holy mother of… Check out Sean Mote’s 1970 Cadillac Coupe Deville from hell. Originally a burned-out junker left for dead in Ohio, Mote rebuilt the car as a murdered out, high speed mega-behemoth. The guys over at BangShift got up close to it and lived to tell the tale.
This old Detroit luxury sled has seen many variations and horsepower ratings. The last one on record was a 500 CID Cadillac V-8 with MegaSquirt EFI and a 90mm Precision turbo producing out 788hp and 770 foot pounds of torque spinning a Turbo-Hydromatic. It was witnessed last summer running 186 mph at the Wilmington Mile.
The car features a mish mash of Ford Mustang front suspension pieces with owner fabricated fiberglass hood, front bumper, roll cage and turbo plumbing. Not one to be satisfied, Mote did a revamp in 2005 and moved the motor back nine inches to the rear which necessitated the turbo doing time in the passenger compartment behind the driver and also in the trunk. When turbo was slow to spool, it was relocated back up front behind the grille and the radiator went in the trunk with the fuel cell. Never stop evolving!
Weighing in half a ton lighter than stock at 4200 lbs, this thing is slammed with mini tubs, big meats and mags and a chute out back. Evidently Mote drives it around town too. Seeing this mile long Coupe de Ville slinking down a city street would be fantastic. Seeing it at almost 200 MPH at full bellow would be even better.
