Every once in a while we find a story so out of the ordinary, we just can’t help but laugh a bit, take a minute to let it soak in, and then begin posting the madness. The only way it can be described is kind of like finding a double-bacon cheeseburger on the menu from a Tofu bar. They just don’t exist. However, a Lamborghini dealership in Houston, Texas is doing exactly that. They’re serving up cheeseburgers, to Vegans and the like.
What’s more, catering to the upper-end of the financially-equipped isn’t going to offer your dealership the best customer base for a classic such as the one they’ve got for sale, right? I mean, when you’re looking for an all-wheel drive Italian bred V10, priced North of “inquire on price,” you aren’t exactly looking for a ’65 Comet Wagon sporting Orange painted drum brakes on all corners.
Moreover, just as rare as it is to see an American family sedan from the mid-50s parked along side high-end exotics, its just as unusual to find one in such pristine condition.
The ’65 Comet is worth a look though. Even if you aren’t into the sleds from the post-WWII era, this wagon is definitely sporting some coolness. This Comet is powered by a 289ci V8 through a factory optional 3-speed automatic transmission. The interior is nearly flawless, too, featuring the power rear tailgate window, and factory AM radio. From a cruising point of view, this has got to be one slick ride. The Comet’s even got all of the factory trim and sits on an aftermarket set of Torq-Thrust style wheels…nice!
Who knows, maybe Lamborghini of Houston, Texas is on to something here. As far as the price of this gem, we’re not sure it fills the pants. Let’s just remind you before you clink the link, its just a 1965 Mercury Comet Wagon…
