It rubs the lotion on the hot rod… A leather clad hot rod might have been Buffalo Bill’s dream car, but we will never know thanks to efforts of Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) in Silence of the Lambs. Okay, it may not be human skin, but Canadian Wood Buffalo hides and Swarovski crystals adorn the interior and exterior of the Russian hot rod. Daily New Dig got ahold of the for sale listing and shared the leather clad oddity.
According to the article, the seller who goes by “Rustam” is offering the skin machine for $1,215,000 dollars or best offer. For this completely reasonable price, the owner will enjoy a lifetime guarantee on the specially treated skin. Yes, according to the seller the hides have been specially treated to withstand the elements and the heat produced by the engine.
Don’t think for second that the mastermind behind this build would skimp on adhering leather to every conceivable surface of the vehicle, even the engine is covered in bison and bling. It is hard to imagine that the heat from headers or exhaust manifold will not damage the leather, but the seller assures that it is designed to withstand it.
However, this does lead to an interesting question, does this specially treated leather require some exotic leather conditioner or Buffalo Bill’s standard lotion? One option sounds expensive and the other does not sound too appealing, so perhaps we’ll just get the hose again? Let’s just hope that the builder does not take styling cues from Leatherface on his next project.
