A grinch decided to take out his or her holiday frustrations on the poor defenseless “Christmas Tree” at Mobile Dragway. According to FOX10 a vandal broke into the facility and crashed a truck into the starting line causing $10,000 to $15,000 in damage. The news report stated that the driver of a Toyota pickup sped down the track toward the starting line and lost control destroying the timing equipment. Upon hearing the news, local racers have contributed money to the reward fund in hopes of enticing a tip. The actions of these racers demonstrate their commitment to a sport that leads to lifelong friendships. These fine men and women feel like their home has been violated and they are seeking help to find those responsible for the destructive acts. For those people who constantly complain about the lack of drag strips, perhaps it is time to help locate the low life scumbag who tried to destroy a drag strip. It is safe to guess that grinch behind this dastardly deed, is either a child, “manchild” (meaning mankind not specifically a male person), or just a douche bag; regardless of the specific type of person, this is a cowardly act that cost the owner of Mobile Dragway thousands of dollars in damage. With the number of drag strips decreasing every year it makes this particular act of stupidity even more painful. There will be some who blame the track for not having more security measures in place, but it is not the fault of the track, the owners, or its management. The fault lies with the individual who decided to destroy a place that makes many people happy and keeps racers on the track, not the street. Trolling a track is not cool, but it is annoying, expensive, and cowardly.
