McLaren Automotive and Microsoft have announced that McLaren’s stunning, limited edition, 789 hp McLaren Senna will be added to Microsoft’s Forza racing series of video games.
The Senna, named after the legendary, late, Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, will grace the box cover of “Forza Horizon 4,” in a continuation of the long-running partnership between McLaren and Microsoft’s Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games. The game will be exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
The actual McLaren Senna also made its North American debut at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles on June 12 where it was the centerpiece of Microsoft’s Mixer booth. Previously, The McLaren P1 Hybrid hypercar debuted at E3 2013 and was the star of “Forza Motorsport 5.”
“We are delighted to be working so closely with Microsoft on their Forza racing franchise. Videogames are now so realistic and our relationship with Forza has been a powerful tool both to grow brand awareness and show what makes McLaren cars so special,” notes Jolyon Nash, Executive Director of Global Sales & Marketing for McLaren Automotive.
“So few people will ever get the chance to pilot the McLaren Senna, but now a whole new audience can experience the thrill of driving our ultimate track car virtually on the roads of Britain.”
“We are proud of our long-term partnership with McLaren with whom we have a rich history,” adds Alan Hartman, Studio Head of Turn 10 Studios. “We look forward to creating even more ground-breaking moments and experiences together, and will continue to share our common passion for delivering automotive entertainment to both gaming and driving enthusiasts alike.”
The McLaren Senna is the most extreme road car that McLaren has ever built. Designed to deliver the purest connection between the driver and car, the Senna is limited to just 500 units worldwide, at a list price of $958,966. All 500 units have already been sold.
Delivering a massive 789 hp from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, the McLaren Senna is also the lightest and can reach 124 mph in just 6.8 seconds and 186 mph in 17.5 seconds. It’s bodywork, which includes active aero elements deliver an incredible amount of downforce totaling 1,764-lbs.
In “Forza Horizon 4” players can get behind the wheel of the McLaren Senna in a shared open-world experience that features dynamic seasons in native 4K and HDR.
The game, to be officially launched on October 2, 2018 on Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs and Xbox Game Pass, has new features and depictions of historic locations, more customization than before, including over 450 cars at launch.
