This just in, you Mopar lovers! Mopar’s SEMA booth is showing off an all-new 512ci V10 cranking out more than 800 horsepower as well as a new 426 Gen III High Output HEMI crate engine spitting out 590 ponies for your pleasure.
These performance kits are designed to maximize Gen III Dodge Vipers (8.4L) and the Gen III “High Output” 426ci crate HEMI with new Pro Stock cylinder heads and Mopar Gen III HEMI front drive kits.
“SEMA is the perfect platform to introduce some of Mopar’s newest high performance and restoration parts and products,” explained Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar. “If you’re looking for horsepower that can be dropped in or bolted on, the Mopar exhibit area has a full range of small- and big-block products for the enthusiast.
“Mopar has been in the performance business for decades. In fact, the brand really came to life at the track,” said Gorlier. “We are committed to supporting performance enthusiasts.”
V10 Competition Crate Engine and Gen III V10 Performance Upgrade Kit
The Drag Pak Challenger has forever changed the V10. Mopar’s 800 horsepower V10 Competition Series engine (PT# P5155872) was designed specifically for drag racing. Each Competition Series V10 is hand-assembled, starting with an aluminum block, aluminum cylinder heads, a forged steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons (12.5:1). Oh yeah, and a JTEC controller with race calibration and engine harness.
All of this adds up to 695 lb. ft. of torque at 7,000 rpm and the aforementioned 800 horsies.
If you’ve already got a regular old Gen III Viper and like to squeeze out another 150 horsepower, Mopar’s Performance Upgrade Kit (PT# P5156137), which includes a pair of aluminum cylinder heads (machined to fit the Gen III block), a custom upper intake manifold with a larger throttle body, fuel rails and injectors. All of this – along with a reflashed computer – will garner up to 650 horsepower.
426 Gen III High Out HEMI and 426 Ready-to-Run Kits
Last year we lost our mind over Mopar’s new Gen III 426ci crate motor. Titled the “Gen III High Output HEMI,” the previous 540hp has been bumped up to 590 thanks in part to its lightweight aluminum block (shaving more than 100 lbs.), it’s “stout, balanced lower reciprocating assembly” featuring a forged steel crankshaft, six bolt mains (2, 3 and 4), and cross-bolted 4-bolt mains (1 and 5), forged steel H-beam rods, forged 11:1 compression aluminum pistons, a windage tray, and far more aggressive roller camshaft (.639 intake and .628 exhaust lift) and revised aluminum cylinder heads.
Other goodies available for the kit include valvetrain tie bars, cast aluminum valve covers and billet fuel rails, and two 426 Ready-to-Run engine control/base calibration kits, one for the High Output engine and one for the existing 426 crate engine, which include a throttle body, engine harness and engine controller with base calibration. A new 590hp 426 HEMI? Yeah, believe it.
Gen III HEMI Front Drive Kit
Looking to resto-mod your Mopar? Check out Ma’ Mopar’s distributor front drive kit for Gen III HEMIs. The kit includes a machined front cover, camshaft timing gear, fuel pump push rod and bolt kit. Kits for 2009 and later 5.7-liter and all 6.4 engines are available too.
Dodge Challenger Body-in-White
And last but not least, a new Dodge Challenger body shell is available for those looking to compete their latter-day E-Bodies. “Bodies are complete with doors, decklid and hood. These shells eliminate the bodywork or welding that’s normally required with a project car that may be damaged or a salvage car. Bodies are designed for competition use only, have no vehicle identification numbers and cannot be used for a street application.” Other parts like fascias will be available as a “builder’s kit.”
