Nothing wakes up an early Mustang quite like a T-5 five-speed manual transmission, especially for the six-cylinder cars. You’ll love loafing at 2,000 RPM on the highway, too.

California Pony Cars T-5 Conversion Kits come with the major components needed to fit a T-5 in a 1964.5 to 1979 Mustang—adapter plate, transmission crossmember, transmission mount, and yoke. The kits line up the shifter perfectly with the factory shifter opening—no cutting of precious sheetmetal.

You have a couple options when it comes to the bellhousing and clutch linkage. You can use the factory six-bolt bellhousing and the factory bellcrank-style clutch linkage, or you can use a Fox-body Mustang bellhousing, throwout arm, and cable-style clutch linkage. You will need a new driveshaft to accommodate the shorter T-5 transmission yoke.
