It’s Eliminations Day at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, and we’re awaiting the start of the heads-up classes. We’ll have results for you throughout the day as we go down to the finals – in the meantime, enjoy last night’s final round of qualifying:
NMCA Classes – Qualifying Round 3
We’ve got a lot to look forward today, including what might be the first side-by-side 5-second pair in Pro Street history, so keep us bookmarked. Once again, we would like to express gratitude to our event coverage sponsor, SCT Performance, for making it all possible. Check out their fine line of tuners at www.sctflash.com.
Sunday Notes:
SAM School has been tearing it up all season long and this race is no different in the LSX Shootout.

In the Pro Stock finals, Andy Schmidt and Charlie Booze, Jr. paired up to see who would take home the Wally. Unfortunately for Schmidt, another big wheelstand resulted, and he narrowly avoided collecting Booze at the 330-foot cones. Check out this dramatic photo sequence:

The 2011 racing season draws to a close with the 10th Annual FueLab NMCA World Street Finals at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, and StreetMuscleMag will be bringing you same day coverage and videos all weekend long. With the Double Secret Elimination Points rule in place for this event, there are still lots of class championships up for grabs. Joe Dunne and Chris Rini will battle it out for top honors in Kooks Custom Headers Pro Street, while Jeff Colletta and Jim Jarrett will determine who’s #1 in ARP Nostalgia Pro Street. A little over 100 points separate Jamie Stanton and Bob Kurgan in CFE Xtreme Street, and multiple-time champ Charlie Booze will try to close the not-insurmountable gap to take the COMP Cams Pro Stock victory away from Robbie Blankenship at the wire.

Friday Notes:
We’re about an hour away from the start of first round qualifying action here at Indy, and we’ve already had some drama in test & tune. Drag Radial racer Steve Fereday was making a hit in his twin turbo Firebird when some kind of transmission plumbing came loose and a fireball erupted.
Steve Fereday talks about his close call:
We’re happy to report that Fereday got the car stopped and climbed out under his own power uninjured, and Mark Carlysle in the far lane was long gone and uninvolved.
We talk briefly with Joe Dunne as he prepares for the first round of qualifying here at NMCA Indy 2011:
4PM, and it continues to be somewhat of a snakebit day – oildown delays have pushed our schedule back considerably, and the track staff is doing their best to run through the remaining 100 or so cars in the staging lanes so we can turn things around and get Q1 taken care of…
