The 2011 racing season draws to a close with the 10th Annual FueLab NMCA World Street Finals at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, and StreetMuscleMag will be bringing you same day coverage and videos all weekend long. With the Double Secret Elimination Points rule in place for this event, there are still lots of class championships up for grabs. Joe Dunne and Chris Rini will battle it out for top honors in Kooks Custom Headers Pro Street, while Jeff Colletta and Jim Jarrett will determine who’s #1 in ARP Nostalgia Pro Street. A little over 100 points separate Jamie Stanton and Bob Kurgan in CFE Xtreme Street, and multiple-time champ Charlie Booze will try to close the not-insurmountable gap to take the COMP Cams Pro Stock victory away from Robbie Blankenship at the wire.

There will also be a full schedule of GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout race action going on this weekend in Indy, so be sure to check out our sister site LSXMag.com for complete coverage of that series finale as well. There will be periodic updates now through Sunday, so keep your browser pointed right here for all the fun and excitement!
We’d like to give special thanks to our event coverage sponsor, SCT Performance, for making it all possible. Check out their fine line of tuners at www.sctflash.com.
Friday Notes:
We’re about an hour away from the start of first round qualifying action here at Indy, and we’ve already had some drama in test & tune. Drag Radial racer Steve Fereday was making a hit in his twin turbo Firebird when some kind of transmission plumbing came loose and a fireball erupted.
Steve Fereday talks about his close call:
We’re happy to report that Fereday got the car stopped and climbed out under his own power uninjured, and Mark Carlysle in the far lane was long gone and uninvolved.
We talk briefly with Joe Dunne as he prepares for the first round of qualifying here at NMCA Indy 2011:
4PM, and it continues to be somewhat of a snakebit day – oildown delays have pushed our schedule back considerably, and the track staff is doing their best to run through the remaining 100 or so cars in the staging lanes so we can turn things around and get Q1 taken care of…

Joe Dunne is in the lead in Pro Street, but because of the weight given to qualifying position and how closely matched the competitors are in the top NMCA class, it's still very possible for Chris Rini to make up the gap and end up with the #1 on his windshield next year.

Jeff Colletta is also in a fight to fend off Jim Jarrett (below) and retain the top spot in Nostalgia Pro Street. Don't judge spectator attendance by the apparent emptiness of the stands - this place is huge, and simply swallows anything smaller than an NHRA national event in one bite.
Jeff Coletta talks about the points battle in Nostalgia Pro Street:

Charlie Booze, Jr. saw the NMRA Hot Street title slip through his fingers in the last round of the last race of the season. He finds himself potentially facing the same scenario here at the NMCA finals, but tells us he's much more relaxed about it and just wants to play whatever hand he gets dealt this weekend.
