Visiting some the most legendary racetracks across the United States, OPTIMA is on a mission to find the Ultimate Street car. Appearing on MAVTV every Friday night, OPTIMA showcases the baddest street rides across the nation. As drivers compete in a high adrenaline action packed competition that puts their cars and driving skills to the ultimate test.
The new TV series launched August 1st with an introductory episode that introduced viewers to the concept, event, and sponsors. Moving to week two, viewers were then introduced to the tracks, drivers, and their rides. The show will give viewers a behind the scenes look at what it is like to compete in this world. Drivers who push themselves and their rides to the limit to prove their ride is the ultimate street machine. As viewers follow along weekly they will get to see everything from triumph, to mechanical failures of these beastly machines, to the disappointments. The physical and emotional stress of the drivers will be on display as well, as they prepare to secure a spot on the track for the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational.
To earn a spot in the invitational – to be held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway following the 2014 SEMA show – drivers must compete in the Detroit Speed and Engineering Road Rally, the Ridetech Autocross and the Wilwood Disc Brakes Speed Stop Challenge, have their vehicles’ judged in the Lingenfelter Performance Engineering Design and Engineering competition and finally try to set the fastest lap in their class during the BFG Road Course Challenge.
