Incredibly, General Motors has just recalled every current generation Camaro they’ve ever made.
If you are trying to keep count, that’s 511,528 cars. The problem is an issue with the ignition–but GM says it isn’t the same problem that’s related to several deaths with GM’s small cars such as the Cobalt and is also under recall.
This time they are saying it is “because a driver’s knee can bump the key FOB and cause the key to inadvertently move out of the ‘run’ position, with a corresponding reduction or loss of power. ”
GM is also careful to state that the problem was discovered internally so we shouldn’t assume the issue is causing crashes or injuries. Still, if you own a new Camaro, it’s time to schedule an appointment with your local dealership for some free service.
