We’ve just received word from Petty’s Garage that they’ll be releasing 25 new “Richard Petty Edition” Superbirds. Each car is based on the new Dodge Challenger and features a Heide Performance Products nose, grille, and rear wing to give it the Superbird conversion. Once that is completed Petty’s Garage will apply either Superbird or Daytona striping, a choice that will be made by the car’s new owner, as well as all of the appropriate Richard Petty Edition badging. You’ll recall that we first saw the “modern” Superbirds displayed by Heide Performance Products at the 2009 SEMA Show, and the Richard Petty Edition is based on those cars.
Several special touches are made to the cars to make them special “Petty’s Garage” edition cars, beyond what Heide had shown at the SEMA Show. Features include Petty’s Garage brand adjustable coil overs, front and rear adjustable sway bars, Petty edition 20″ Forgeline wheels, and front and rear shock tower braces.
They also throw on a set bumpsteer correction bushings, a Borla Cat-Back system, and a Hurst shifter. It’s then all topped off with a multitude of “Petty Edition” interior badging items with custom headrests, a console cover, and floor mats.
Optional features include a naturally aspirated 426 HEMI that makes 585 horsepower from Arrington Performance. If that’s not to your liking they can supercharge the factory motor with a Magnuson blower giving you power levels of 600 horsepower, 725 horsepower, or 800 horsepower (just take your pick)!
Petty’s Garage is located in the original Level Cross, NC shop of Petty Enterprises where the Petty’s operated their race team for nearly 60 years.
