American soldiers and pin-ups are two of the most iconic embodiments of the American spirit. The warriors from home that are willing to lay everything on the line and the ladies reminding them what they are fighting for are a perfect combination. Gina Elise was inspired to revive this era gone-by and give back to the soldiers who protect us.
After hearing about uphill battles of our Veterans who receive little to no visitors, Veterans Affairs Medical Centers not having enough help or money and traumatic news stories from the Middle-East, Elise decided it was time to do something about it and founded Pin-ups for Vets in 2007. The non-profit group organizes Hospital and military base visits, care package shipments, and a yearly Pin-up for Vets calendar. Elise and her team of volunteers have been to more than 40 VA medical centers and hospitals since 2007 as well as dozens of military bases around the Country. The team plans to visit centers in all 50 states.
Pin-ups for Vets is about more than just visiting veterans and bringing a smile to their face. The organization has donated more than $50,000 worth of rehabilitation equipment for VA centers and hospitals. Elise has published a full calendar centered on 1940’s Pin-up style every year since 2007. Calendars are available with a donation and each donation adds another piece to the gifts given to Veterans and active duty personnel. Elise hand delivers many calendars to Veterans along with a letter of appreciation from the donator.
