When it comes to project cars, it helps a lot to have a vision. Like a detailed plan, it will help you keep on track and hopefully avoid costly and unproductive detours. For BanditDave over at Pro-Touring.com, his vision is fully expressed in the photo above.
The lucky recipient of this vision is a ’69 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 that Dave has been saving for this project. In the true spirit of Pro Touring builds, the engine is far from the only area that is scheduled for updating.
A passel of BMR and Hotchkis suspension goodies have gone into bringing this 442 up to modern standards even before the LY6 mill was dropped between the frame rails. The front end has been fitted with new control arms, sway bars and some serious hardware for the anchors.
The stern has also received the upgrade treatment, with new control arms, springs, shocks and sway bars making for a total package.
An LS9 camshaft, Lingenfelter MAF and ProCharger kit are slated for this beast. The ProCharger blower arrived late last month and he’s in the process of installing it, but has encountered a couple of challenges with the block being the LY6 and not the more common LSX that the blower kit’s bracketry was designed for.
None of that has slowed him slowed him down in the least, just made the road to travel a little longer. If this project has peaked your interest, you can follow the Red Rocket’s developing story over here at Pro-Touring.com.
