MasterShift has what it takes to give your hot rod an edge when it comes to shifting. The company’s signature product, the Auto Shifter paddle shifter system, enables the quick and agile advantages of a semi-automatic transmission, while cutting down on the woes of installation.
Designed with popular transmissions in mind, the kit supports the following setups: 700R4, Turbo 400, Ford AOD, 4L60, 4L60E, and 4L80 just to name a few. Though MasterShift is currently working to make a kit that works with airbag-equipped steering wheels, the prototype is still in development. In the meantime, in order to use the Auto Shifter kit, it is required that the steering wheel be an aftermarket design that is either 5-bolt, 6-bolt, or 9-bolt.
One of the leading features of these systems is the patented OneWire technology used in each and every kit sold. OneWire technology gets rid of the need for you to run wiring down the steering column, offering you ease of installation and fewer headaches over how to make it all fit.
Another feature of the Auto Shifter kit is the switch input for control of an overdrive unit. For those of us with applications that use gear vendors, the paddle shifter allows command of the overdrive gear in combination with the regular shift sequence, making it possible to use overdrive as a gear splitter. This minimizes RPM loss, making for a more efficient use of engine RPMs.
Additionally, three safety features keep your car’s transmission protected from potentially hazardous mishaps–Neutral Safety, Brake Safety, and Speed Safety. Neutral Safety forces the driver to push a button while driving to shift into neutral, adding an extra layer to ensure that the car is not accidentally shifted into neutral while driving. Brake Safety blocks shifts into reverse gear from occurring unless the brake pedal is pressed. Finally, Speed Safety prevents accidental engagement of the reverse gear at speeds above 1 mph, so you don’t have to fear random shift mishaps at high speeds destroying your transmission.
