Two iconic cars were stolen by a disgruntled ex-employee and his girlfriend, from a warehouse in Canoga Park, California. Out of a warehouse filled with Steve Sanett’s collection, thieves absconded with a Ford GT and a 1936 DeSoto Airflow, but the 1942 Lincoln escaped attempted theft.

According to ABC 7 in Los Angeles, Sanett owner of Penta Motorsports, pulled up to the warehouse that housed his collection on April 18th, to find his vintage Lincoln sitting in the driveway and the warehouse door wide open. Thanks to the video provided by ABC7, it is possible to view part of the collection that includes some cars that have even higher price tags than the vehicles taken by the thieves. Sanett told ABC 7, that he estimated the DeSoto to be worth nearly $70,000, but the Ford GT was worth nearly $300,000.

Although this is beginning to sound like the plot to Gone in Sixty Seconds, thanks to the proximity of the port and Mexico, who knows what the two thieves were planning. According to a source close to Sanett, the former employee and his girlfriend had attempted to steal the ’42 Lincoln, but gave up leaving the car in the driveway. Law enforcement was able to track down the suspects as well as the cars. Sanett has been reunited with the GT and the Desoto, but no information was provided on the condition of the vehicles. Fortunately, this story has a happy ending as the cars were returned and the alleged thieves are now behind bars.
