A few days ago we posted a video of an incredible one-lap street car race on a dirt track that everyone really loved on our sister site, (If you haven’t seen it you definitely want to check it out here.) and now we’re back with another–this time on asphalt.
Unfortunately, this time around it isn’t the racing that’s so great but the fact that this cool looking rat rod pickup absolutely eats it on the wall.
From the looks of things, there’s a lot of fabrication work that’s gone into the flat black rat. And we also think the chassis and engine is from an old race car. Notice the wide-five wheels at all four corners, what appears to be a fabricated front clip, and roll cage downtubes extending to the rear of the bed. If you look closely you can also see the shocks behind the rear wheel that–although painted black–look to be a quality monotube unit. Plus, the engine has up-and-over headers, a tall single-plane intake and an aluminum radiator hiding behind the grille shell.
The truck takes a commanding lead right away but it looks like it gets a little loose coming out of the first set of turns leading the driver to over-correct and cram the front end into the wall at a pretty high rate of speed.
By the way, major props go to the driver of the 240SX for turning around and make sure the driver of the rat rod is OK.
