Redneck Superbird Fury; There’s Got To Be Something In The Water

The guys over at RideLust showed us this Superbird…well, wannabe Superbird. You’ve got to wonder what someone was thinking when they started to build this thing. The car itself is a ’71 Plymouth Fury, made to look like a 1970 Plymouth Super Bird, not a good rendering.

Today, replicating a true “aero car” is a costly venture, much more than building even a numbers-matching HEMI ‘Cuda…well, almost. Replacement noses, wings and rear window plugs (for Daytonas and Charger 500s) run close to $10,000 for the whole package. That’s without the car, mind you. Fiberglass replacements have been attempted, but they just don’t look as nice as you’d like.

While the exorbitant pricing would be enough to deter most folks from building their own ‘bird, it hasn’t stopped this daring Mopar-lover.

The car and its owner reside up in Nova Scotia, so we’re thinking either the cold got to him, or they really do have some toxicity in the water up there. We don’t know if this thing was built on a bet, and the owner thinks it looks good, or if it was done as a joke. Whatever the case may be, here it is, judge for yourself. Hey, who are we to pass judgment? To each his own.

With all the publicity this car has been getting lately, we are probably helping him get famous. The car will probably get used in a motion picture and he will become an instant millionaire. All kidding aside, you have to admit the person that built this car definitely spent quite a few hours building the nose and fabricating the wing for this early C-Body Mopar.
